It’s not often a house by the sea on the North Northumberland coast comes up for sale these days, especially with direct sea and open countryside views. The Haven is a four bedroom detached dormer style bungalow set within approximately a quarter of an acre of gardens and located in the small, traditional fishing village of Boulmer. It sits right on the Northumberland Heritage coast approximately 6 miles East of the Market Town of Alnwick and 3 miles from Alnmouth. What Propology love about The Haven
The house is spacious, private and within a stone’s throw to the shore of Boulmer beach, ideal for enjoying walks along miles of coastal dunes and unspoiled beaches. We love the traditional fishing village location and the open countryside views. This is the ultimate beach house just waiting for the next ‘Famous Five’ style adventure. Make this your Haven, either as a holiday home or permanent residence.
Boulmer is situated 6 miles east of Alnwick, Craster is 4 miles north, Alnmouth 3 miles south with the East Coast Main Line rail station connecting directly to Edinburgh, Newcastle and London Kings Cross. This small, genuine traditional fishing village is steeped in history and intrigue. The catch is salmon from June until the end of August and lobsters and crabs when the salmon season finishes.
During the 18th and 19th century Boulmer was notorious as a haven for smugglers, contrabandists came from all over Northumberland and the Scottish Borders to deal in illicit goods, including Scotch Whiskey and gin from the Netherlands, tobacco and salt was also landed on the beach. These days you can enjoy a drink and a meal at the Fishing Boat Inn located in the village or head back home and relax in your very own Haven.
