This small, genuine, traditional fishing village is steeped in history and intrigue. The catch is salmon from June until the end of August and lobsters and crabs when the salmon season finishes.

During the 18th and 19th century Boulmer was notorious as a haven for smugglers, contrabandists came from all over Northumberland and the Scottish Borders to deal in illicit goods, including Scotch Whisky and gin from the Netherlands, tobacco and salt was also landed on the beach. These days you can enjoy a drink and a meal at the Fishing Boat Inn located in the village or head back home and relax in your very own haven.
