We would like to introduce you to our very own ‘What’s Trending?’ page, where we’ve selected some of our favourite places to shop, eat and drink in Northumberland.

The foodie scene in Northumberland is something that we love to explore and discover new places to eat. In this stunning county, you can dine in restaurants whose speciality is sympathetically cooked local food or where culinary boundaries are pushed with trailblazing creations.

Amble is right at the top of our trending list. The Fat Mermaid restaurant and Deli based in Amble has delicious products in the deli from across the British Isles and Europe. They source food types that you have grown in love with and find difficult to source yourself. The Fat Mermaid is Amble’s newest restaurant and it has quickly become one of the most popular places to eat with delicious food being served all day.

Another nom nom addition to the foodie scene in Amble is The Fish Shack, a wonderfully understated place with an emphasis on fresh quality and produce. The rustic look and restored upturned boats that serve as dining rooms, along with the spectacular views across the harbour make this a really unique dining experience. If you’re a real foodie then we would highly recommend Sea and Soil restaurant as well. With cosy and atmospheric interiors, it makes the food taste that extra bit more delicious! Amble boasts a fantastic foodie scene that never fails to disappoint.

The harbour area at Amble boasts impressive views – inland to Warkworth and the picturesque castle, as well as along the estuary and out to sea. There are also plenty of things to do and see in the harbour area such as boat trips with Puffin cruises, Kayaking, surfing lessons, and Fishing off the Pier and on fishing boat trips, as well as a great selection of places to eat and drink, and art/craft/gift shops to browse.

The Treehouse restaurant in Alnwick is always talk of the town. You can dine in one of the most magical and unique restaurants to be found anywhere in the world. High up in the treetops, with a roaring log fire in the centre of the room and trees growing through the floor. Most importantly, the locally-inspired food is delicious!

Hooked is Alnmouth’s newest restaurant and it’s a cracker! They’ve climbed towards the very top of the Tripadvisor rankings for the County within a very short space of time. It is a small family restaurant offering a concise menu of freshly prepared food cooked to order and has a wonderful A La Carte menu.

If you’re in need of some rest and relaxation then the newly opened Tru physio and yoga brings together the ancient practice of yoga with modern physiotherapy techniques.
